Overview of the Role:

Markup are looking for an experienced and motivated QA Developer to join our talented development team. The Software Test Engineer is responsible for designing testing scenarios for usability, functional and non functional tests. The role is responsible for conducting automated and manual testing, thereafter analyse the results and in collaboration with development teams manage the findings. The tester will be included in the scrum team and interact with the client to better understand the product requirements or in case the design requires any kind of modifications.

As this is the first role of its kind within the Company, you will have an excellent opportunity to grow and develop the role as you progress. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Be the ‘go to’ body for all things QA related - advising and recommending QA best practice to the team

  • Ownership of the testing solutions within the continuous integration process

  • Ownership of test strategy and planning in large projects

  • Manual and automation testing

  • Building functional test plans, driven by business requirements

  • Responsible for automated tests, tools and frameworks

  • Test process improvement with the help of metrics

  • Support with testing in terms of architecture, Core flows /APIs (REST, RPC)

  • Trace test procedures with the help of test traceability matrix

  • Develop automated and manual test cases and prioritize testing activities regularly

  • Execute all the test case and report defects, define severity and priority for each defect.

  • Carry out regression testing every time when changes are made to the code to fix defects

  • Work closely with developers to agree test cases and their acceptance criteria

  • Working across multiple projects with an agile approach

  • Setting up and maintaining QA automation Infrastructure


  • Specific Experience: Experience of testing full-stack applications with an understanding of functional testing, QA automation techniques and best practices. Experience of Test Planning, Test Cycle Management and creating and executing Test Cases

  • Excellent Communication: Both written and spoken is paramount, you will not only be working with our team of in-house developers, but will also be in contact with our clients 

  • Cross Function Abilities: Comfortable communicating and working with both our backend and frontend development team

  • Software and Tools: Experience with Agile development and waterfall methodologies, experience of Git, Jira Jenkins, and relational and non-relational databases from a testing perspective

  • Industry Knowledge/Interest: Excellent understanding of the writing testable code principles

  • Accuracy: Keen attention to detail and strong problem solving skills 

  • Self-Development: Continuous learning mindset, ability to keep up to date with fast changing trends
